🎃 Haunted House – If You Dare!

Get ready for a spine-tingling good time — Halloween is here and the Hub is pulling out all the stops!

The air has that unmistakable autumn bite, the leaves are blazing in gold and crimson, and October is doing exactly what it does best — setting the stage for the spookiest, most thrilling time of year. And this Halloween season, the Middleton Live Well Hub is going all out with a Haunted House that promises shivers, surprises, and plenty of laughter along the way.

This is a community event through and through — put together with love, creativity, and just the right amount of eerie imagination by the people who make the Hub so wonderful. Families with kids will absolutely love the excitement of stepping through the door not quite knowing what’s waiting around the corner. Little ones can experience the delicious thrill of a good-natured scare in a safe, community-run environment where the scares are always age-appropriate and the smiles are guaranteed. And for the brave adults who think they can handle whatever the Hub has cooked up — well, we’ll see about that!

Halloween is one of those magical times when the whole community comes alive together, and there’s no better way to experience that than by sharing a scream (or a laugh) with your neighbours. Whether you’re bringing the kids in their costumes, coming out with friends for an evening of seasonal fun, or volunteering to help create the magic yourself, the Haunted House is a can’t-miss event this fall. Keep an eye on the Hub’s social pages for dates, times, and all the spooky details!

🌿 Wreath Workshops – Make Something Beautiful

There is nothing quite like the pride of holding up a wreath you made yourself — and the joy of making it alongside your community.

As the holiday season begins to drift into view on the horizon, there’s no better way to welcome it than by rolling up your sleeves and creating something festive and beautiful with your own two hands. The Middleton Live Well Hub’s Wreath Workshops are every bit as wonderful as you’d hope — filled with laughter, creativity, the scent of fresh greenery, and the quiet satisfaction of a craft well made.

Whether you’ve been making wreaths for years or have never so much as twisted a piece of wire, these workshops are designed for everyone. Skilled or beginner, young or young-at-heart — you’ll be guided through the process of creating your very own holiday wreath to take home and hang with pride. There is something deeply grounding about working with your hands, about choosing your greens and your ribbons and your little decorative touches, and watching something come together that is uniquely, beautifully yours.

But perhaps the very best part of the Wreath Workshops isn’t the finished product — it’s the experience of sitting around a table with other community members, chatting, laughing, trading tips, and simply enjoying good company. These workshops have a way of bringing people together in the most natural, relaxed way, and friendships have been known to bloom just as cheerfully as the wreaths themselves. Spots are limited, so don’t wait too long — sign up soon and treat yourself to a morning or afternoon of seasonal joy you won’t forget.

Men’s Breakfast – Pull Up a Chair

A good breakfast and even better company — the Men’s Breakfast at the Hub!

There’s something timeless and deeply satisfying about sitting down to a hot breakfast with good people. No rush, no agenda, just the warm clatter of plates, the smell of fresh coffee, and the easy comfort of conversation that can wander wherever it likes. That’s exactly what you’ll find at the Men’s Breakfast at the Middleton Live Well Hub — a regular gathering that has become one of the most cherished fixtures of the Hub’s community calendar.

The Men’s Breakfast is open to men of all ages, all backgrounds, and all walks of life. Whether you’re a longtime resident or newer to the area, whether you’re retired or still in the thick of a busy working life, whether you come every single week or are considering showing up for the very first time — you are genuinely welcome here. There’s no membership to join, no pressure to participate in anything beyond simply being present and enjoying the morning. The table is big, the coffee is hot, and the conversation is always good.

It’s no secret that connection and community are vital to wellbeing — especially for men, who sometimes find it easier to sit side-by-side over a shared meal than to seek out connection in other ways. The Men’s Breakfast honours that in the simplest, most human way possible: with food, fellowship, and a standing invitation to just show up. Come as you are. Come on your own. Come with a friend. However you arrive, you’ll leave a little fuller in more ways than one.

🫖 Women’s Tea – A Little Warmth, A Lot of Heart

There’s nothing quite like the comfort of good tea, great company, and conversation that nourishes the soul.

Sometimes, what the heart needs more than anything is to simply slow down, breathe, and spend time in the company of other women who get it — who understand the beautiful chaos of everyday life and the importance of pausing long enough to truly connect. The Women’s Tea at the Middleton Live Well Hub is exactly that kind of pause, and it is a genuinely lovely thing.

Picture a warm room, a beautiful spread of teas, a table set with care, and a circle of women gathered not to accomplish anything in particular — but simply to be together. To talk, to listen, to laugh, to share a story or a worry or a triumph from the week. The Women’s Tea is a space where you don’t have to be anyone other than yourself, and where the conversation can be as light or as meaningful as the moment calls for. That kind of space is rarer and more precious than we sometimes remember, and the Hub works hard to protect and nurture it.

Whether you’re looking for a chance to meet some new faces in the community, reconnect with women you already know, or simply carve out a little time for yourself in a warm and welcoming environment — the Women’s Tea is calling your name. Come and let yourself be refreshed. Bring a friend, or come alone and leave having made one. The kettle is always on at the Hub, and there is always room at the table for you.

The Middleton Live Well Hub is more than just a building — it’s a heartbeat at the centre of this community, and every event, every breakfast, every tea, every workshop adds another beat to that rhythm. Whatever season of life you’re in, there is a place for you here. We’d love to see you walk through the door! Stay connected by following the Hub on social media and checking back here at Roots by the River for the latest news, upcoming events, and community stories. And if you’ve been to any of these events, drop a comment below — we’d love to hear about your experience! Until next time, take good care of yourselves and each other. Middleton Live Well Hub is a special place, and it’s the people in it who make it so.

With warmth,
April
